Background

I'm a lifelong baseball fan, longtime card collector, and software developer based in the United States. I've followed the sport closely for as long as I can remember — collecting cards since I was a kid, tracking box scores long before I could code, and eventually building the app I always wished existed: a fast, clean way to check scores and stats without wading through pop-ups, auto-play video, and clutter.

Baseball Nerd started as a personal project to solve that one problem and grew from there. I design, build, and maintain every part of it myself — the live score cards, the standings and stats pipelines, the stadium weather maps, and the Android app.

The Technical Side

I'm not a professional statistician — I'm a software developer who spent months wiring up the actual data pipeline that powers this site's live scores, standings, and stats leaderboards. That means going stat by stat through what the MLB Stats API actually reports, figuring out which numbers agree with each other, and which ones (like OPS, FIP, or WAR) require combining several raw figures in a specific way to mean anything. That hands-on familiarity with where the numbers actually come from is what shapes how I build every feature on this site.
